“The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn’t exist.”

And when it comes to pulling the wool over one’s eyes, some believe that Trump is leading his pack and the nation through a sea of falsehoods.

Yet in their eyes, the Trumpsville pact sees no evil, nor do they hear it, or they are choosing to blindly ignore it altogether. Still, facts speak for themselves - or at least they should.

No, I am not comparing nor calling President Trump the devil, but winning the election four years ago did make him the “Usual Suspect.”

Even during the coronavirus pandemic, Trump’s approval rating hasn't budged below its baseline of around 40 to 42%.

According to Salon, “Number of diagnosed cases of the novel coronavirus: 555,371, though experts believe the real number is far higher due to under-testing. Number of deaths: 22,056, though experts believe the real number is far higher because of people who die at home or have their deaths misclassified. Number of newly unemployed: 17 million, though experts believe it's likely higher because so many laid-off workers were unable to file for unemployment. Unemployment rate: 13%, and there are concerns it could go as high or higher than the unemployment rate during the Great Depression.”

Under any other presidency, especially a Democratic one, the blame would fall solely on the shoulders of the Most High Leader in Charge - the president. There have been reports laying out how Trump “resisted taking any measures that would have slowed the spread of the virus for months,” as well as reports stating that Trump “rejected or ignored warning from health officials and blocked any useful response in favor of propaganda.”

But not on Trump’s watch - a watch where he calls the plays, runs the shots, and surrounds himself with carefully curated media members, flat out rejecting legitimate new sources and branding them as “fake news.” That does not bother Trump-worshipping loyals, however, who flock to supportive news channels and get their information from radio and cable hosts who also “spent months minimizing the virus and then switched seamlessly to swooning over how Trump will single-handedly defeat” the virus.

Regardless of his 42% rating, Trump loyalists will continue to remain just that - loyal, in every sense of the word. “No matter how bad things get under Trump, his voters will stand by him rather than admit they were wrong to vote for him in the first place.”

As for the rest of us, we’re unjustly trapped in “the getting-screwed-by-us business,” something we didn’t sign up for and are desperately fighting to escape.
